about

A few months after releasing my album ‘FANDOM’, I received an email from an individual who I would soon come to know as Inky. He was inquiring about possibly getting one of the still on sale ‘FANDOM’ cassette tapes at a discounted dellivery price since he was short on funds for the month. After some back and forth I decided to send him a free copy, since he seemed to enjoy the album and was kind. I eventually asked ‘Do you make music?’ to which Inky responded, ‘Yes!’ and linked his Bandcamp to me. After listening to it, It was like nothing I’ve ever heard before in a long time. Inky’s music was funky and downright nostalgic to the point I couldn’t stop listening to it! I had to ask to collab! Chromaticism started as a short EP containing songs like ‘POPCORN’, ‘BEING REAL’, ‘Luvin’ U’ and ‘DISCMAN’. I sent these to Inky, and originally we had planned to make the record a Split EP- much in the vain of SUPERSEX420 x TENDENCIES’ ‘Split EP’, but as we worked on new demos and Ideas we decided that a full length would be suited for the project. Inky would email his tracks like ‘Obsession’ and ‘Skates’ to me to listen to for the first time! It was fun! After a few months, the album was done and I’m super exited to share it with all of you!

Working with Coraspect has been a real dream for me. When getting into the scene I’d watch videos from fellow artist and Vaporwave YouTuber ‘Pad Chennington’ about such releases as ‘FIBRE’s 810’, ‘ev.exi’s Remember’ and more! (Heck I was even excited for ‘Aqua Fina’s Disco Trax’ as He was a BIG inspiration to some of my earlier Future Funk work! RIP Paraguay) So when I found out that I was going to be on the same label as the greats, as well as the warm and welcoming atmosphere for the new artists as well, I was definitely on board! I’m very thankful to have this experience, and working with Inky and Alan has been an overall exciting and amazing experience I wouldn’t trade for the world!

I hope you enjoy our new album!
Love, TFH (Tony Fawkin Heal)

I began work on what would eventually become my next project, Cult Classic, at the beginning of 2023. It was around this time when I discovered a new album on bandcamp called 'FANDOM'. I was instantly taken aback by the pure vibes the tracks there gave off. It was rough around the edges, but I couldn't help but dance. It was unlike anything I've heard before, and gave me a feeling similar to listening to Daft Punk's 'Homework' for the first time. I knew I had to reach out, so I sent Tony Fawkin Heal a message. Initially I wanted to ask about shipping costs for a tape like FANDOM, as I was broke and shipping to the UK was hard for me at the time. Little did I know, that was the beginning of a long lasting friendship between us two. When I showed him my music, he immediately asked to collaborate and I was overjoyed to be given an opportunity like that, so I put my solo project aside to work on a Split EP with Tony! That EP contained songs from Tony, like 'POPCORN' and 'DISCMAN'. As I began to add my own tracks to the project, we realised it would grow into a full LP, so we decided to expand Chromaticism with a bunch of tracks! I really enjoyed the back and forth me and Tony would engage in to create songs like the titular track 'Chromaticism' and the 'Voice Mail', and upon completing our album, we celebrated with some popcorn, Grape Soda, and a full listen of the album.

Being able to work with Coraspect came out of nowhere for me. I had no clue that my debut album would be accepted by Alan, and since I had been watching hours of Pad Chennington videos beforehand, I was really enthusiastic about it. Releasing an album on a label like this was a real dream, and I was so shocked that it happened so soon after I started producing music in 2021. Alan was super welcoming and I just knew that he was somebody I wanted to work with. We interacted on Twitter a few times and eventually got to talking in DMs and I spontaneously decided to send over Chromaticism, just for some feedback. To my surprise, He enjoyed it and allowed me and Tony to release it with him. This was an amazing experience that I really value and I sure hope to work with Alan and Tony for years to come!

Enjoy Chromaticism, it's the only way to POP!
